原六郎コレクションと觀海庵　図録

磯崎新設計による特別展示室「觀海庵」では、日本・東洋古美術の優品からなる「原六郎コレクション」を紹介しています。
明治時代の産業振興に貢献した実業家、原六郎（1842-1933）が収集した古美術コレクションのうち、近世日本絵画を中心に、書、工芸、さらには中国美術など、約120点を、原六郎コレクションとして所蔵しています。なかでも中国陶磁の真髄を伝える国宝「青磁下蕪花瓶」、浮世絵美人図の先駆けとなる重要文化財「縄暖簾図屏風」、円山応挙の大作画巻「淀川両岸図巻」、永徳ほか狩野一門による「三井寺旧日光院客殿障壁画」が代表作です。
本書はその古美術と磯崎新による建築の解説をあわせ一冊にまとめたものです。円山応挙、狩野派、本阿弥光悦らの代表的な作品を中心に、豊富な図案と細やかな解説を記載しています。

◆Catalogue of the Hara Rokuro Collection and the Kankai Pavilion
Designed by Arata Isozaki, the Kankai Pavilion serves as a venue for the superb works in the Hara Rokuro Collection of traditional Japanese and East-Asian art.
This collection comprises approximately 120 pieces collected by Hara Rokuro (1842-1933), an industrialist who contributed to Japan's industrial development during the Meiji era.
The collection consists mainly of early modern Japanese paintings, calligraphy, crafts and Chinese art. It is represented by such works as the National Treasure Celadon vase with long neck on globular body which conveys the essence of Chinese ceramics, the Important Cultural Property Female passing through a reed portiere, a precursor to the beautiful women genre of ukiyoe paintings, Maruyama Okyo’s masterful scroll painting Landscape of Yodo River, and Paintings used for wallpaper and sliding doors at Nikko-in guest hall in Mi’idera temple by Eitoku and other members of the Kano school.
This book brings together these works of traditional art and commentary by Arata Isozaki on architecture, as well as abundant illustrations and detailed explanations of representative works by Maruyama Okyo, the Kano School and Hon'ami Koetsu.
