森村泰昌：エゴオブスクラ東京2020－さまよえるニッポンの私　展覧会図録

2020年1月25日－7月12日、原美術館にて開催の展覧会カタログ。
展示風景、出品作品及び作品目録を収めた写真集と、映像作品「エゴオブスクラ」の全テキストを収録した冊子の2冊組となります。

森村は自らが脚本を手がけ自演する映像作品「エゴオブスクラ」を通じて、日本近現代史、文化史に言及しています。戦前の教えが否定され日本人に広がった「空虚」、そこは西洋の価値観で埋められていきました。「エゴオブスクラ（Ego Obscura）」という耳慣れない言葉に「闇に包まれた曖昧な自我」という意味を込め、愛情のみでは⽚付けられない⺟国への複雑な感情をにじませながら、セルフポートレイトという形で、「さまよえるニッポンの私」とは何かという命題に挑みます。

Exhibition Catalogue: Yasumasa Morimura - Ego Obscura, Tokyo 2020

This exhibition was held at the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art from January 25 to July 12, 2020. It consists of two volumes: (1) a photo book containing exhibition views and a catalogue raisonné of the exhibited works; and (2) a booklet with the complete text of the video work Ego Obscura.
In his video work Ego Obscura, which he wrote and performs, Morimura references Japan's modern history and culture in the aftermath of the post-war occupation when the country's pre-war teachings had been rejected and the “void” that resulted became filled with Western values. The exhibition title contains an unfamiliar word “ego obscura” which Morimura uses to mean “an ambiguous ego wrapped in darkness,” an idea that he explores in self-portraits imbued with complex feelings towards a motherland that go beyond mere affection.
